Elite: Dangerous ‘Close Quarters Combat’ Beta Released, VR Gameplay Footage Emerges

Elite: Dangerous has been a benchmark virtual reality application for a while now, but for those who love space combat and find the remaining gameplay mechanics of E:D a little laborious, a new, free expansion pack may well provide the action packed fix they require.

Elite: Dangerous Close Quarters Combat (or CQC) has just been released to beta testers and gameplay of the new action-oriented gameplay has begun to emerge. This video by the delightfully named ‘Bored Bastard Bullshit‘ which was captured whist playing with an Oculus Rift DK2, gives a good idea of what players can expect when the update becomes available towards the end of the year on PC.

The new add-on provides multiplayer dog-fighting set within the Elite: Dangerous universe and promises a pleasing antidote to the more cerebral, slow paced primary mode.
