Based in the UK, Paul has been immersed in interactive entertainment for the best part of 27 years and has followed advances in gaming with a passionate fervour. His obsession with graphical fidelity over the years has had him branded a ‘graphics whore’ (which he views as the highest compliment) more than once and he holds a particular candle for the dream of the ultimate immersive gaming experience. Having followed and been disappointed by the original VR explosion of the 90s, he then founded RiftVR.com to follow the new and exciting prospect of the rebirth of VR in products like the Oculus Rift. Paul joined forces with Ben to help build the new Road to VR in preparation for what he sees as VR’s coming of age over the next few years.

Watching this live from a train, it’s exciting even if only text! :D Nice wirth the screenshot! And Glass! And what I need to keep up! And yeah, when we chatted with Palmer in RiftMax he said he would not be able to make it to this presentation due to it being at the same time as their own, but then this rescheduled, but I guess they might be prepping for their own stuff today… as well as not being part of the ITA. Thank you for doing this, now I need to scroll up again!

  • Bob Nichols

Thanks Ben, you did a great job!

  • Andreas Aronsson

Phew, well that was nice! I really like how there was an audio alert when a new message arrived, that way I could read other stuff during the pauses. Sadly I will be fast asleep (I hope) during the conference tonight, but I will catch up on that on the train to work tomorrow morning ;) Exciting stuff for sure!

Also, still not really sure what the ITA is for, the most prominent description right now is three questions, haha. I guess trying to get people to work together? I read on their side they they will have a library of shared white papers… other than that, mostly promotion? Oh well, I guess it’ll be explained in detail eventually.

    • Paul James

Heh! this seems to be dividing opinion. Do we keep the audio cue or get rid?

      • MattWil

My vote is for keep, It allowed me to do something else, and glance at my second monitor every time you guys posted something new.

  • MattWil

That was cool, I love that it made an audible noise so I didn’t have to baby sit it to catch all the updates.

I hope someone asks some of the guys from Oculus about this, I am really curious why they seemed to back out, or at least not join the reformed group. I am sure as you said, it was quite an elephant in the room.

Well done Ben on embracing new reportage means. I liked it. Looking forward to this evening.

    The “me too” alliance.

    • Brad Hawthorne

Relevance in the VR market can’t be purchased by merely giving the ITA $5000. The only viable way is to make something people want.
