shufflepuck-cantina-deluxe-oculus-rift-demo-virtual-reality

Have you ever played air hockey in a space bar? Have you ever played air hockey in a space bar… while wearing an Oculus Rift? I have, and it’s amazing. Join me for a look at the Oculus Rift demo version of Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe.

French indie game developer, Agharta Studio, is hard at work creating new virtual reality experiences. As a proof-of-concept for their plans, they have incorporated Oculus Rift support into one of their popular titles, Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe.

Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe is a role-playing game that follows a space traveler through a series of intergalactic pit stops where they play air hockey against a variety of amusing aliens. If that doesn’t sound cool enough already, Agharta has created a VR demo that allows you to explore one of the cantinas with your Oculus Rift, complete with holographic menus and a few opponents ready to play air hockey with you.

The game engine is very smooth and the environment translates very nicely into virtual reality with the Oculus Rift. You have the option to compete against three unique players, each with their own style, special moves, and personality.  As you earn credits and tokens, you can upgrade your gear for even more exciting game play.  If this demo is any indication of what Agharta Studio has planned, I will be first in line to check out their new titles.

The full version of the game is available on Steam right now.  And if you own the full version, you can try the VR demo for free.

Amazing what indie devs can do.. Really like the athmosphere of this game, reminds me a lot of Star Wars and Mass Effect.
