BUTTS: The VR Experience has today come to Gear VR, released by creator Tyler Hurd. We just can’t get enough of BUTTS.
Today’s Gear VR release of BUTTS, the whimsical animated tale featuring Ren and Stimpy-style animation, adds to an already full support list including Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Android Cardboard.
All versions of BUTTS are free to download, and certainly make for an interesting conversation piece when introducing a VR headset to newcomers to say the least.
BUTTS Creator Tyler Hurd worked previously as an animator at Double Fine Productions, and created the VR experience while freelancing.
Hurd is currently working under the auspices of WEVR on a new virtual music video, which he calls “an overwhelmingly happy 360 degree parade dance party full of bright colors, fun stylized characters, eccentric silly dancing in a dynamic changing environment with you in the center of the craziness,” and says it will be similar in style to BUTTS.

WEVR has most recently shown a number of participating VR projects at this year’s Sundance Film Festival including Waves with Reggie Watts, theBlu: Encounter, and Irrational Exuberance.
