This Guy Modded Oculus Touch to Play ‘Beat Saber’ Darth Maul-style

Beat Saber (2018) is finally here, the block-slicing rhythm game that puts two lightsabers in your hands and tasks you with using your Jedi powers to slice to the beat. Less than a day since release, one Twitch streamer has already modded his Oculus Touch controller to play Darth Maul-style, aka with a single double-bladed lightsaber.

Twitch streamer ‘Ragesaq’ tends to play VR shooters—Hot Dogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, Onward, BAM Royale – those sorts of things. Like many VR shooter fans, Ragesaq uses a special controller setup called ProTubeVR that configures two Oculus Touch controllers into a VR gun of sorts.

Using some of his ProTube parts, he strapped together his Touch controllers into the double-bladed configuration to play a pretty wild-looking display of a ‘no-arrows’ mode set on Hard (seen below).

“I had this idea to reuse some of my protube parts for this game to make a Darth Maul double saber and it worked way better than I thought!” Ragesaq writes on Reddit.

To achieve the mixed reality view seen in the video, Ragesaq used LIV, a compositor designed to simplify mixed reality capture. Check out the full attempt below:
