The Leaked ‘Oculus Remote’ Returns as Part of Rift Package

Oculus Rift pre-orders are now live, and it seems that the previously leaked Oculus Remote has returned and will be included in the Oculus Rift pre-order bundle.

Little is known about Oculus Remote as of yet. The first time we caught a glimpse of it was back during a photo leak of a then conceptual ‘placeholder’ mock-up of the consumer Rift, and only now has it resurfaced.

It seems to be packing a trackpad, ‘back’, volume, and what appears to be an Oculus Home button—similar to Gear VR’s control scheme. Oculus says the Remote is “the easiest way to introduce non-gamers to VR.”

“The Oculus Remote is a new input device we designed to make it simple and intuitive to navigate VR experiences. With Remote, you can easily browse the Oculus store, explore 360 video content in Oculus Video, or experience a wide range of VR games and entertainment,” the company says in a blog post.

It’s still unknown how/if the Oculus Remote includes any motion sensing.

This story is breaking, we’ll post more details as they come.
