Version 4.0 of the ’80s inspired NewRetroArcade is out, now offering an even wider selection of ’80s and ’90s emulated titles. The developers, DigitalCyberCherries, have added some major features in this release including remappable controller buttons and support for Oculus’ latest 0.7 runtime as well as Windows 10 support.

Other updates include an update to the core LibRetro emulator library and image loading issue bugs fixed.

The button mapping and runtime upgrade news are sure to be popular amongst a growing fanbase for what can only be described as the leading virtual reality emulator application. This is how Ben Lang described it when he reviewed it last year:

I just stepped out of what may as well have been a time machine. NewRetroArcade uses gaming’s newest technology to take players back to a classic arcade of yore, replete with playable arcade machines buzzing and blinking in a battle for your attention, mini games like bowling and darts, and an attention to detail that works synergistically with the transportive power of the Oculus Rift. Did I mention that this all comes at the compelling price of completely free?
