NVIDIA is Making GTC Online-only Due to Coronavirus Concerns

    Categories: NewsnVidia

NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference (GTC) isn’t taking place as planned this year due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns. The company says it will still offer up a livestreamed keynote by founder & CEO Jensen Huang and recorded talks from various conference speakers.

“This decision to move the event online instead of at the San Jose Convention Center reflects our top priority: the health and safety of our employees, our partners and our customers,” the company details in a news briefing.

Registered attendees will receive a full refund; pass holders should expect an update soon. The company says its developer program will also host technical questions with Nvidia researchers, engineers and solution architects.

Nvidia’s pullback of GTC follows a string of high-profile event cancellations/postponements to occur recently including Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, and Facebook’s F8 dev conference in San Jose—all of which were canned due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Although it’s not the biggest event of the year among those bustling conferences mentioned above, GTC attracted over 9,000 attendees last year, an all-time high following its 8,400 attendees one year prior. Industry professionals and press alike will just have to stay tuned for the company’s newest GPU developments from the safety of their own homes.
