It appears the age of paid downloadable content in VR is rapidly approaching us. Oculus developers will now be able to add discrete DLC to their games on Oculus Go and Samsung Gear VR. Oculus Rift support isn’t far behind.

Oculus is rolling out the new DLC support on mobile VR, which will be suited for games that are preparing to offer discrete (paid or free) extras like new characters, levels, additional images, media files, or new chapters. Rift support is said to arrive sometime “soon.”

“DLC support will enable larger application sizes and additional revenue from your application after it has been purchased,” the company writes in an Oculus developer blog post.

DLC support is now available in beta. Oculus says they’re encouraging developers to “experiment with it using Release Channels before pushing asset files or DLC to live users.”
