SEA VR Rebrands as ‘Immerse Technology Summit’, Returns October 11th

SEA VR, the largest VR conference in the Pacific Northwest, has renamed itself as the “Immerse Technology Summit,” and will be held this year on October 11th in Bellevue, Washington. The summit organizers say they dropped the “VR” moniker in order to broaden the scope of the event to include augmented and mixed reality as well.

This year, AMD’s vice president of alliances, content and VR, Roy Taylor, will deliver one of the three planned keynote talks at the beginning of the day-long convention. While the gaming industry is well represented, the summit will also feature keynotes from representatives in the field of medicine and the automotive industry. In addition to the keynote talks, there will also be smaller breakout sessions throughout the day and an exhibit hall with upwards of 40 companies demoing their work.

Last Year’s conference

The conference has attracted the attention of venture capital firms who will again be participating in a ‘shark tank’ inspired event. As with last year’s competition, VR startups will present their ideas to a panel of Seattle area investors in the hopes of earning a meeting with the venture capitalists from Madrona Venture Group, Vulcan Capital and Qualcomm Ventures. Applications for the competition are open until September 28th to any immersive technology company that is less than five years old.
