VR Shooter ‘Arizona Sunshine’ Comes to PSVR with PS Aim Support in June

Announced on Vertigo Games’ social media channels and via the PlayStation Blog, VR zombie shooter Arizona Sunshine has been confirmed for a June release on PlayStation VR, along with support for the new PSVR Aim controller. The zombie wave-based shooter initially launched on HTC Vive and Oculus Rift in December 2016, becoming one of the fastest-selling VR games on PC.

After the game’s sales success and positive reception on PC, a PSVR version of Arizona Sunshine was strongly anticipated. Adding to an already-crowded market of horror games on Sony’s VR platform, Arizona Sunshine will offer brightly-lit scares and intense action with a solid story element.

In Road to VR’s review of the PC version, it was noted that players with a room-scale configuration would likely have the better experience, due to its 360-degree action. It is therefore a slight concern that the PSVR’s tracking limitations may become apparent. However, the game has always employed a decent teleport system that allows the view to be reset for setups with a front-facing orientation, and the PSVR version is confirmed to support gamepad and Move controllers to play in this fashion. For the more ambitious, the smooth locomotion option—introduced on the PC version in January—will allow players to move around freely.

In addition, Arizona Sunshine has been optimised for the new PlayStation Aim controller. As the game was originally designed around dual-wielding, the Aim controller mode has increased the effectiveness of holding a single weapon to maintain the difficulty balance.
