First Look at Virtual Reality ‘Netflix’ in Motion on the Samsung Gear VR

We’re still running to catch up with all the news that spilled out of Oculus Connect’s Keynote presentation this morning. One of the most notable for casual VR users and movie fans alike was the announcement that you can now download a VR version of Netflix, built by John Carmack for Samsung’s Gear VR headset.

This is a short video of the application in motion, that gives you an idea for the level of attention to detail that’s been lavished on the video streaming application’s virtual reality incarnation.

    I’m sure Netflix will release their own version with several different environment options, including a traditional big screen theater.

    They only seem to mention this stuff in the context of Gear VR… does that mean that it won’t be available for Rift? I understand that having a cable hanging from your head while watching a movie is less than ideal, but I don’t see why you would omit your flagship platform from getting features like Netflix, etc.
