Road to VR is running a survey with our partner Gamer Network to better understand our audience. Your participation is entirely optional and anonymous, but we’d be thrilled if you’d share your responses with us.

You may recall that Road to VR announced a partnership with Eurogamer parent company Gamer Network last year. In an era where many publications are allowing paid and sponsored content to increasingly bleed into editorial, this partnership allows us to create an important firewall between editorial and advertising activities on Road to VR.

The Gamer Network Readership Survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is shared across Eurogamer and Gamer Network sister sites. It covers a range of topics: your gaming tastes and habits, what gaming equipment you own or intend to buy, which gaming sites you read, your other leisure pastimes and so on. The survey is anonymous and we won’t be able to tell who you are by the answers you give.

The survey helps us build an accurate picture of our audience and what they care about, so we know who we’re talking to. It also helps make sure there’s advertising on the site that’s relevant, and in so doing it helps us pay the bills.

So, if you have a moment, please consider doing us a favour and fill out the questionnaire. Thanks!

Having taken the survey, let me ask for something in return: Could you guys look at playing a Rift using an gGPU? I recently bought a Dell XPS for work, and I’d love to take the GTX 1070 out of my 4-year old gaming PC and drop it into an eGPU, but I’m worried about all of the ports needed for the Rift (which don’t exist on the XPS), and it seems super hard to find a roundup of the various options for eGPUs with any indication of which are the best. Alternatively, a review of the Razer Core X would be great, since that has recently jumped to the front of the line in terms of my interest.

Anyway, thanks for all the great work that you guys do on the site.

    • Also consider adding a bit about how Apple now promote eGPU’s for VR on their Mac platform, I guess mostly for Development, but still.

  • Missing options in the survey:

“What headset would you buy in the next year” I would have opted for Pimax 8K (if they pull it off) and the option existed.

What platforms do I buy games on….Steam was there but “Oculus Store” was missing.

What type of games do I play. I think “VR” and “ARPG” should have been an option considering.

Or at least have a box at the end of the survey to add anything missing from it.

    Cheers

      Thanks, passing this info along.

  • JJ

I’d stop deleting my comments about your advertising choices if i were you

    • JJ

Yupp you guys should read the second paragraph and then the second to last one and see if they contradict… We have a firewall between ads and editors…all the way to were using this survey to bet suit ads towards our veiwers.

      • JJ

Anything more i say and theyll delete my comment even though it was just quoting what road to vr said. You guys are nazi’s censoring truthful posts that reveal your intentions.

      • Jerald Doerr

        Porn!

        • Jerald Doerr

          Wtf????

      • benz145

Just because there’s a firewall between ads and editorial doesn’t mean a single survey can’t collect information about both. The information that’s relevant to editorial will be used by the editorial team and the information that’s relevant to advertising will be used by the ad team.

        • JJ

if you have affiliated links in your articles providing you with compensation then there is no firewall. You are posting advertisements inside and disguised as articles. Your articles are dictated by you getting compensated by advertisements. there is no firewall in that situation.

          • CURTROCK

Yo, JJ: Fuck off, and go troll another website. No one is interested in your “clever” insights.

          • JJ

Im not trolling, i’m quoting what they said. sooo have fun being a dick, that must be a sad life for you.

          • shadow9d9

Sad that the site is into censoring and you have the typical sycophants that blindly defend.

          • CURTROCK

Not to mention the typical pathetic no-life type, that troll a free entertainment website, crying & complaining that their incorrect assumptions aren’t being accepted.

          • shadow9d9

Someone that posts once isn’t the one that has no life. Usually the no lifer wants to censor any opinion that isn’t theirs and is at the ready to white knight for a company that they have tied their self esteem to.

          • CURTROCK

Gee, psyche major….where do I begin? At last count, the posting count was up to 10, not once. Ahhh, the familiar refrain; Waaaaaaaa! You are censoring me! Pathetic. Yes, I do stand up for this website, they have earned my respect. Many years of quality journalism & entertainment. R2VR actually contributes to the VR community. Armchair critiques like the one in question, contribute nothing. Bringing my self esteem into the conversation, shows your weakness. You are the one White Nighting for JJ.

          • anony

And you’re blindly following censorship of opinions that don’t align with yours. Who’s the bigger nazi here?

    • benz145

Hey JJ, no one is deleting your comments. We had one person write us recently whose comments were being incorrectly marked as spam, please let me know if that’s happened to you as well.

      • JJ

yeah…. I doubt that. it was deleted over and over again. Thats just dishonest screw this site.

        • JJ

you’re still doing it… so here ill break it up like i did above

          • JJ

this is where i tried to break it up and they still deleted it…

        • David Herrington

Hey JJ, I assume benz is talking about me. My comments were being incorrectly marked as spam. You should be getting notifications if the same thing is happening to you.

          • JJ

nope they’re just deleting my posts where i put their two contradicting statements next to each other. I dont even add comments, its just blatantly clear that they contradict each other showing road to vr’s dishonesty.

  • JJ

So I dont get how you have a firewall between advertising and editorials when you clearly state that you have a chance to get compensated by viewers clicking on the links your articles lead to.

If that isn’t getting compensated for advertising then idk what is. If not its a very indirect, but still present, way to get compensated for your advertisement.

    • JJ

this means your articles are bias and coming from a place where you make articles with the intent to slip us advertisement. Thats shitty and thats how you lose viewers.

      • Itchy

Dude. STFU and go make ur own VR website. No one wants to read ur shitty comments anymore.

        • JJ

oh really itchy cause your comments are so insightful! I was quoting what they said and they were deleting my comments

        • platooonic

Yeah I agree with JJ, its kinda dishonest

  • 2kah

“Which VR headset/s do you own or plan to buy in the next year?” – no option for WMR?!

    • Croser

Indeed! I put Vive instead, but that’s really poor design!

    • benz145

Thanks, we’ve shared this with Gamer Network!

    • Mythos88

Someone is really on the ball there. I left it blank but it will seems strange because of some of my other answers. Microsoft Store was missing too

  • CURTROCK

And…..survey done! Long live R2VR, my fav website.

  • Xron

Made it, though some options were missed.
Hope some1 will make a big Vr event where we could join while using our Hmd’s.

  • Alan Harrington

Sounds from the comments that the survey is a waste of time due to the missing options, pretty much all VR related, which for a VR site are unforgivable; I’ll give it a miss!!!

  • Pasi Ripari

Lol, it’s hard not to troll a little when the survey starts with “which one of these three genders of which one is imaginary you are?”

I wonder if there were many other +50 y old Afganistan nonbinaries.

  • Mike Thompson

This survey is cool. You should make a survey this year too! I hope to see it soon.
