SVVR Meetup #11 Presentations

GameFace Labs
Ed Mason will be showing the latest GameFace Mark 5 prototype of their untethered, Android-based VR headset with a 2560×1440 resolution.

RealSpace3D Audio – VisiSonics
RealSpace3D Audio is the virtual placement of sound anywhere in 3D space with pin-point accuracy, creating the perception of real source direction, distance, depth, and movement relative to the listener and heard through standard stereo headphones. VisiSonics’ founders developed the proprietary physics-based algorithms giving the listener the experience of actually being present in the scene! Commercial applications are far-ranging and touch any consumption of audio over headphones: in VR, gaming, movies and music.

Next month’s meeting I expect will be very eventful. Hopefully some developers will have already got their dk2s and some early development of their games/projects will be shown.

    • Exactly. And with another month, I’m hoping to have some sort of 3D video streaming thing figured out, too. Things are moving very fast.

        Awesome. Can’t wait.

How about just a decent quality 2D stream for starters

        • Yeah, I’ll probably stop steaming them since it turns out so crappy. Take care.

I just stepped into VR with the Oculus Rift Dev.1 and I am totally blown away because of the quality already (imagine when things get faster, lighter, better and cheaper in let’s say 3-4 years from now). Can’t wait for other HMD’s hit the market. 3D LED TV’s at home are a bit old fashioned already now imo, but real VR movies could motivate a whole new group of people. 3D sound could be done easy with Binaural Recordings (combined with VR it’s probably more realistic than 5.1/7.1 sound systems (i.e. headphones). Can’t wait till we have cordless VR systems with binaural sound and ultra sharp displays.
