Based in the UK, Paul has been immersed in interactive entertainment for the best part of 27 years and has followed advances in gaming with a passionate fervour. His obsession with graphical fidelity over the years has had him branded a ‘graphics whore’ (which he views as the highest compliment) more than once and he holds a particular candle for the dream of the ultimate immersive gaming experience. Having followed and been disappointed by the original VR explosion of the 90s, he then founded RiftVR.com to follow the new and exciting prospect of the rebirth of VR in products like the Oculus Rift. Paul joined forces with Ben to help build the new Road to VR in preparation for what he sees as VR’s coming of age over the next few years.

Can’t comment on the stream, but excited to see what you find out. Oh so sucky I am just down the road having to watch this in my hotel instead of at the event. Curse you no press pass!!

  • Gr8llama

Can watch it live on Twitch. http://www.madetogame.com. I guess I could have RSVPd there and didn’t know. Doh! I tried, but I think it’s too late. Heh.

Not nearly as game changing as it was hyped to be. But then what can you expect NVidia isn’t exactly being pushed to go outside the box.

maybe I’m weird but I have almost zero interest in streaming/cloud gaming. I want to run games locally.

I’m old fashion that way too, but when you look at the way cloud computing/storage is already biting people in the arse (the recent nude leaks) it’s not completely unjustified. Cloud processing and storage will always be the least secure way to do anything, it couldn’t work if it wasn’t. I’m confident it can reach an acceptable level of stability and security someday, but it is not any of those currently.

Well, Road to VR took its chances but in the end there was nothing about VR in that conference. Personally I expected nVidia to introduce the first wireless VR headset that works with a PC by repurposing the hardware and streaming technology they used in the Shield hand-held.
