IM360 has partnered with MTV to offer you an envious position at this Sunday’s Video Music Awards, with a live 360 degree immersive broadcast direct from the prestigious event’s red carpet.

MTV’s Video Music Awards is an event with the highest of profiles, its red carpet has been graced some of music’s biggest celebrities since the inaugural event back in 1984.

This year’s show is taking an immersive turn as IM360 – a full-service virtual reality studio and technology company – are setting up 360 cameras right on the pre-show event’s red carpet, to drop you live into the midst of the celebrities as they pose and answer inane questions from the press.

It’s one of the first broadcasts of its kind and goes some way to bringing MTV back to the cutting edge of media, a position that they’ve enjoyed on and off since their pioneering emphasis of the music video.

“Virtual reality is changing the way people see the world and we’re excited to bring this innovative storytelling tool onto the VMA red carpet ahead of this year’s show,” said Colin Helms, Senior Vice President, MTV Connected Content. “We’re excited to build on MTV’s long-standing history of digital innovation as one of the first networks to ever fully integrate a live virtual reality experience to give viewers a carpet-side seat.”

Based in the UK, Paul has been immersed in interactive entertainment for the best part of 27 years and has followed advances in gaming with a passionate fervour. His obsession with graphical fidelity over the years has had him branded a ‘graphics whore’ (which he views as the highest compliment) more than once and he holds a particular candle for the dream of the ultimate immersive gaming experience. Having followed and been disappointed by the original VR explosion of the 90s, he then founded RiftVR.com to follow the new and exciting prospect of the rebirth of VR in products like the Oculus Rift. Paul joined forces with Ben to help build the new Road to VR in preparation for what he sees as VR’s coming of age over the next few years.
