VR Philly 2

The VR Philly Meetup is holding its third gathering in Philadelphia tomorrow, Wednesday, November 5th. Amidst VR demos, networking, and probably a few pizzas, presentations from VisiSonics and Adebayo Adejare will ensue.

VR Philly says that the group plans to now hold gatherings on a monthly basis, rather than every two months. Their next event takes place tomorrow:

Learn about AR and 3D Sound – VR Philly Meetup #3
Wednesday, November 5th, 7pm–10pm | Devnuts: 908 North 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA

With the DK2 finally out in the wild, we decided it was time for the third VR Philly meetup. The meetup will take place on November 5th, from 7-10 PM at the Devnuts Hackerspace in Northern Liberties. Recently, we have added a new co-organizer to our team. We’re happy to promote Elias Gorman as Assistant Organizer. He runs the VR dev group at Temple University and is a major asset to our team in terms of proximity to Philadelphia.

VR Philly is open to all with a small asking price of $5; the organizers say the funds go toward supporting future gatherings. You can RSVP for the event at the VR Philly Meetup page here.

Two speakers will hold presentations during the meetup. Headlining is Rod Haxton who is Lead Software Engineer at VisiSonics. Oculus recently announced that they have licensed the company’s RealSpace 3D Audio technology to bring accurate 3D sound to virtual reality. Haxton will demonstrate how to use the company’s Unity plugin and also demo their audio tech.

Following Haxton’s presentation is Adebayo Adejare who will be presenting an augmented reality app for location sharing and geotagging. “The app allows users to create their own virtual worlds by overlaying content on the real world and share these worlds with select people or everyone through channels.’ the Meetup page says.
