  • eadVrim

Maybe it's not the sharpest, but it's the most immersive

  • sfmike

Good deal if Sony actually supported it.

    • NL_VR

Its the only alternative you have if you run PS5 and its good this is the price that should be tthe default price

  • Leisure Suit Barry

At £250 I'll probably pick it up, as the Globular Cluster is pretty much essential, and that's another £50

In all honesty, the only games I would play are the 2 Resident Evil games

    • Arno van Wingerde

Well, do try Horizon: CotM and grand Turismo 7 and No Man‘s Sky and Kayak VR as well!

      • Leisure Suit Barry

Horizon COTM is a mediocre climbing game and GT7 single player is terrible. Driveclub VR has a better single player campaign than GT7

No Mans Sky I've already played in VR and is not my type of game

        • NL_VR

          HHorizon is underated game.
i think most people were disappointed because their expectations were different

          • Leisure Suit Barry

            It's not a £60 game

It's the typical VR game, a watered down version of a mainline game

If you've been playing VR since 2017 then it's a very meh experience

  • Arno van Wingerde

I am not sure if it is still a sale if it happens repeated and for longer periods.
Still, although PSVR2 is an absolute hassle to get into, cable, earplugs, tiny sweet spot, sometimes even login required.

But once you are in, the OLED panels vastly surpass the Quest3 in terms of Color and contrast – it is a pleasure to walk or peddle (kayak VR) into the sunshine! The graphics are much closer to a high-end PCVR experience than to the standalone Quest3! This is due to diminishing returns: the step from 720 to 1080 seems much larger than from 1080 to 4K, contrary to the increase of number of pixels. Foveated rendering makes the PSVR2 even closer to high-end PCVR – and bodes well for the Steam Frames!

Yes, Sony has done a terrible job in supporting the PSVR2, but game developers, often frustrated by Quest3 limited capabilities, have delivered enough high quality games in high quality graphics that people have a library of quality experiences that in many ways makes up for the massive Quest3 library, where over 90% is junk.

  • Leisure Suit Barry

Well it is a watered down game vs the mainline games

    It's a 79 on Metacritic

Listening to podcasts around the launch of PSVR2 and Call of the Mountain was considered an average at best game, a bit of a let down for many

    • NL_VR

WWell if you expected a similar games like the flatgames but in VR then yes maybe but thats what i meant with wrong expectations.
seeing it as the game it is its a good game.

      • Leisure Suit Barry

I mean look at how many flat games are playable in VR on PC now due to mods. These are far better to play in VR than a low budget 3 hour, half janky 'experience'

        • NL_VR

yes but im not saying a 3 hour half janky “experience” is good game.
i have a 5090 PC and i dont play many VRmods, no they are not automatically better because they are flatgames with VR-mods.

          • Leisure Suit Barry

Oh, so if they are such great games then VR headsets will sell like hotcakes then . .

Wait hang on, PSVR2 is selling worse than PSVR1 and Quest 3 is selling worse than Quest 2. bu bu but all these VR games are great no?

          • NL_VR

Good games sell. If no one would buy VR-games there wouldnt be any VR games developed, right?

          • Leisure Suit Barry

Hence there are no big budget VR games, all the big budget games are flat games with a VR option, and even these are few and far between

GT7, No Mans Sky, Resi8, Resi 4 Remake, Hitman WOA

            That's it in 3 years

          • NL_VR

You are making your point in a 2 front war here i see :D

news flash. 90% of all games (im guessing here but just scroll the stores) on all stores are not big budget games… What should we say to all these no "big budget" developers? #Stop making games we only want big budget!"

What a fun gamingworld we would have then…. not. My GOTY is made by a single dev :)

          • Leisure Suit Barry

After 9 years of VR being on the market most people are tired of short indie experiences, it was OK back in 2016 when VR was in it's infancy but we all expected over the years that bigger games would make their way to VR

          • NL_VR

Yes I agree luckily there are bigger games now.
Still more or less indie, but its shown the last decades the innovation comes from the indie scene. The big AAA mostly just copy paste their games with a good looking surface.

  • Leisure Suit Barry

After buying nearly 140 PSVR1 games and numerous Quest games since 2017, with the vast majority of them being experiences/poor games overhyped by the VR crowd just because they are in VR, I am now only interested in the very top quality AAA games

Long gone are the days of 'OMG I can pick up a mug in VR and open a door, it's just like picking up a mug and opening a door in real life, 9/10 game!'

  • Leisure Suit Barry

Most flat games are deep and have scope, something lacking in VR games. The best VR games are mostly all hybrid games for a reason

If a VR game is only 'good' because it's in VR then it's probably not a good game, people are just still enamored with the fact that they are in VR and any old rubbish still blows their mind

    • NL_VR

That all up to personal taste what you like.
i dont even think its always comparable. playing in VR and flat is so different.
no i dont nessecary think a game is good just because its in VR. But i can think a game is BAD just because its a flatscreen game. Everything is personal taste.

      • Leisure Suit Barry

I look forward to Sony announcing the sales of PSVR2, I mean consumers must be buying it up to play all the great games!!!!

        • NL_VR

Im not really interested in data like that, im interested in games i like and play.
Let everyone like what they like and dont try to make your taste and narrative as absolute fact.
We all know in what state VR are, its no AAA Gaming state but its not Dead. Its a big inbetween here but many just see… "uuuh no AAA games, VR i dead" its kinda ridiculous.

          • Leisure Suit Barry

PCVR is dead outside of mods
            PSVR2 is on life support
Quest 3 is performing badly compared to Quest 2

No point in keeping your head buried in the sand

          • NL_VR

            interesting view.
i bought 2 VR games that was released this year on PCVR and they are not the only one released this year… so yeah, dead but still getting games, makes sense.
PSVR2 on life support, what does that even mean. Same here plenty of games released on PSVR2 during this year and plenty announced for next year.
Quest 3 performing badly compared to Quest 2? isnt that grasping for straw agrument to try to prove your point? :D

hey man you should try to not fall to deep into all these "VR is dead" "PSVR2 is dead" clickbaity narrative.
Maybe you should play the games instead…. or wait maybe its just VR isnt just for you? and you dont want others to enjoy VR because you cant? then you must push your negativity towards a whole crowd?
You know what you have the sollution in front of you,,, go play your Playstation flatgames, enjoy! ;D

          • Leisure Suit Barry

I have been playing VR since 2017, there is a severe lack of larger scope games.

Back in 2017 we put up with 'experiences' and many small games as we all thought the bigger games would come along, unfortunately they've been very few and far between.

There's only so many indie budget games I can play, I need games with bigger scope, hence I also play flat games too

          • NL_VR

Well if your into certain genres that fit föatscreen games i understand what you mean. But imo there are games for flatscreen and there are games better for VR.
Personally for me Shooters and different type of survival is best in VR. And luckily those type of games tou can choose alot from in VR.
On föatscreen im not interested in that type of games. On flatscreen i want games i can easy jump in and out from as no games can really immerse me on flatscree

  • Leisure Suit Barry

What do people keep saying are the best games on PSVR2?

GT7, Resident Evil 8, Resident Evil 4 Remake, No Mans Sky, Hitman WOA

    They're all flat screen games

    • NL_VR

If someone think its the best games thats verry personal, for me Re games are good but i pretty much i play once and then leave them. so i would call them the best games. No Mans sky i havent played and Hitman i also like.
What i mean it has nothing to do if a game is a flatgame or VR, if its a good game its a good game.
