We were lucky enough to get an early glimpse of Darknet last week. Now, developer Ed McNeil has made the demo available to Oculus Rift users everywhere to try.

McNeil is calling this a “flavor demo.” It’s designed to give a taste of what the full game will be like. If you don’t have an Oculus Rift, you can check out a playthrough of the demo by Cymatic Bruce and impressions from myself.

Darknet is the successor to Ciess, the first place VR Jam winner. McNeil intends to release Darknet as a launch title for the Oculus Rift consumer version, priced at $10–20. He’s hoping to get the game approved for sale on Steam through the Greenlight process; you can help the game make it onto Steam with a vote—all it takes is the click of a mouse!
