VR Games Showcase Returns March 11th, Featuring ‘Hitman’ for PSVR 2, Flat2VR Games & More
The year’s first VR Games Showcase is getting ready to kick off, coming March 11th and promising a load of VR game reveals, updates and new trailers.
AWE USA 2025 is set to include speakers from some of the biggest names in the XR industry, including Oculus & Anduril founder Palmer Luckey, along with Jason Rubin—one of the only remaining early Oculus executives—who is presently Meta’s Vice President of Metaverse Experiences. Also on the roster is Vicki Dobbs Beck, the vice president of ILM Immersive, the studio behind XR adaptations of Star Wars, Marvel, and more.
Steel Wool Studios announced the release date of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic earlier this week, coming to PS5 and PC on June 13th. While the game was previously shown on PSVR 2, the studio has now removed any mention of PSVR 2 support, which is raising some eyebrows.
Developers of mixed reality games have been clamoring for passthrough camera access on Quest for a while now, something now-departed Meta VP of XR Mark Rabkin said would come with the release of a new camera Passthrough API sometime in early 2025. Now, Google has confirmed that Android XR includes access to passthrough cameras, letting developers fine tune their mixed reality experiences from the get-go.
MoonHood’s upcoming adventure game The Midnight Walk is officially headed to PSVR 2 and PC VR headsets on May 8th, 2025.
A big sale on PSVR 2 pushed the headset’s holiday sales volume on Amazon US higher than might have been expected, selling nearly five times more than last year.
